The products featured in The Best Dollar Store Beauty Buys were purchased by me. All opinions are 100% my own.
File under: Places This Beauty Junkie Loves To Get Down. The answer? The dollar store! There’s no place to find fantastic, non-budget breaking beauty deals like the 99 Cent Only Store, the Dollar Tree or Daiso (a little more expensive at $1.50 per item, but still a great deal).
In recent years, the 99 Cent Only Store expanded their horizons and added some products that are $1.99 and above, still great values! The products you’ll find at dollar stores are overstock or products that are exclusive to those stores. You won’t find the same products at every store, which is the beauty of it all. There’s always something new to find! You’ll also occasionally find some really excellent higher end products that are once in a while kind of products.
Can you see from my shopping cart that I came in for only one thing??? Ha ha! I took a trip to my local 99 Cent Only Store recently to stock up on some essentials and thought I’d share a few of the beauty items I buy from dollar stores, which are worth every single penny (and then some). I’ve long been a fan of dollar stores and way, way, way back in the early days of this blog I even did a makeup challenge featuring products I picked up that were a dollar or less.
Tip 1: Look For Brand Name Makeup Products
I’d stay away from lip or foundation products that do have a shelf life, but for the most part powder products are good. I found this Milani blush in a pile of makeup products and jumped on it! Look for powder blushes, eyeshadows and powders. This is a good way to try out certain colors you are curious about but might not necessarily want to pay extra money for a higher priced product.
Tip 2 – Acrylics Are It!
Acrylic organizers are a plenty at dollar stores, and they are so handy and useful for keeping your makeup collection together.
Tip 3 – Essentials!
Sponges, cotton pads and q tips are a plenty and this is where I stock up on mine.
Tip 4 – Lashes Gone Wild
If you’re a false lash newbie, these false lashes are what I recommend for practicing application with. Plus, some of the styles are actually really nice!
Tip 5: Stock Up On Gifts
You’re bound to find brand name lip balms which are always great to stock up on for gifts.
Tip 6: Look For The Luxe
Sometimes you can find brand name items at extremely low prices – it’s not a guarantee, but part of what makes dollar store shopping so fun!
Tip 7: Look For Bath Goods
Dollar stores are where I stock up on bath fizzies, body washes, dry brushes, and these amazing scrubby cloths that get your skin smoother than you’d believe. Trust!
