It’s been three days since the Race To Erase MS 2018 25th Anniversary Gala at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, and I’m finally coming off of a cloud of excitement. I have so much to share about the lovely and exceptional night lead by Nancy Davis. It was truly incredible to witness $1.6 million raised to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis!
You’ve read about my prep for the event which included a self tanning competition, the beauty products I used to ensure my glam stayed put (and it did), and my experience with Rent The Runway. I had a couple of challenges along the way – literally! While starting the drive toward the gala, my car’s electrical system went completely blank! Thankfully my mechanic was available – it ended up being a quick fix and everything came together.
The Race To Erase MS Gala was thought up by Nancy Davis 26 years ago after she received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. At the time she was given a poor prognosis, but she did not relent and is not only thriving, but doing so much to help others who have a MS diagnosis. Over the past 25 years of the annual Race To Erase MS event, $47 million dollars has been raised and there are several medicines available that have improved the quality of life for those living with MS.
The funds raised from Race To Erase MS established the Center Without Walls, a group of scientists in various universities working together to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. In a very exciting advancement, Nancy announced that it’s been discovered that MS is not just a neuro-degenerative disease, it’s starts as an auto-immune disease that turns into an neuro-degenerative disease. It’s a big step forward towards finding a cure!
The 25th anniversary gala on April 20, 2018 was hosted by Scott Rogowsky from HQ Trivia and included a fashion show by Alice + Olivia, a live auction and musical performances by Elle King, Siedah Garrett (co-writer of Man In The Mirror) and Flo Rida. Other celebrity appearances included Peter Facinelli, Anne Heche and Jack and Kelly Osborne. The main star of the event was unarguably this adorable pup who was part of the live auction. So precious.
In a particularly awesome moment, researchers who are part of the Center Without Walls came to the stage and remained until $100,000 was raised.
I had a great view of the stage and really enjoyed the event which was flawless from start to end. By the time Flo Rida hit the stage I made my way to the front and had the best time enjoying his energetic performance.
I also made my way to Nancy and snapped a photo – she is very kind!
