Over the past decade of beauty blogging I’ve come across some really cool gadgets designed to make our beauty loving lives that much more awesome. That would include the Fixy Makeup Creation & Repair Kit ($44).
I first came across the Fixy Makeup Creation & Repair Kit while at The Makeup Show a couple of years ago. It’s a very cool invention, a very handy invention and I’m glad to be able to share it here with you. I also have a 20% coupon code, which is PAINTED that you can use here on any Fixy kits or other products which includer refills.
Fixing broken makeup is not something that’s new to Painted Ladies – one of my first tutorials was sharing a technique I’ve used for fixing broken shadows and other powder makeup. Fixy is a device that takes that technique to a whole new level!
The basic Fixy Makeup Creation & Repair Kit comes in a neatly packaged square box. In in you will find everything you need to either fix broken powder beauty products or create your own pressed products from loose or mineral shadows.
The Fixy blending box itself is reusable, you just have to clean it after use. The kit includes a binder spray, which is the key ingredient for making sure your products stay intact.
In the kit you receive the blending box & makeup press, custom pick with a scraper, mini brush, grinding tool, 3 small magnetic makeup pans, 3 medium magnetic makeup pans, 3 large magnetic makeup pans, .5 oz FIXY binding spray, and 1 FIXY magnetic makeup palette.
Broken makeup happens, but in this case I sacrificed a perfectly good pan shadow because dedication! You pour in the broken powder on top of the mesh and grind it to a fine powder with the enclosed tool.
You then place an empty magnetic pan of your choice in the makeup press, pour the powder in and spritz with the binder 2 to 3 times as directed. Then you press the shadow and voila! Almost brand new eyeshadow.
The box got a little discolored with the orange shadow, which isn’t the biggest deal. I found that the cleanup does take a bit of time, but I’m hoping that the process gets faster as I use it more often. I tried to press a loose shadow and it was a mess! If I’d read the instructions I’d have known you don’t have to use the binder with mineral based shadows. Doh!
You can purchase refills of the binders and magnetic pans through Fixy.
My Final Thoughts: What a nifty idea for a product! It’s ideal for anyone who wants to resurrect broken powder products or anyone who’s interesting in creating makeup. It’s easy enough to use, don’t worry about messes, they clean up easily.
