Eyeshadow is the love of my beauty obsessed life. I absolutely love and adore the art of blending colors, experimenting with textures and creating temporary works of art. Thinking back to when I was brand new to makeup, I really didn’t know where to start or what kind of brushes to even use. So, where do you start? When it comes to eyeshadow basics, start with primer.
I’ve been wearing eyeshadow for about 23 years now and things were really murky back in the early days of my makeup wearing experience. I wanted to know how I could get my eyeshadow looking smooth and to actually last a long time without disappearing. Getting this information back then was a real struggle!
I found my answer at a MAC counter, and you can’t even believe how rare those were back then. Before I make myself sound even more aged, I’ll tell you that the answer to my eyeshadow woes was to start the entire application with a primer. This missing piece of the puzzle revolutionized my entire experience and I’ve never applied makeup without primer, since.
Some people use concealer before eyeshadow, which does work for some. I’ve found that with my oily eyelids that a dedicated eyeshadow primer works best. There are three that I love and use and highly recommend.
Good primer, great eyeshadow experiences!
