I must have been living under a makeup lover’s rock, because I’d only first heard of Henry Charles makeup and cosmetics bags while visiting The Makeup Show LA. And they’re totally irresistible!
There’s an element of chic in the design of Henry Charles makeup bags that’s piqued my interest in a way that’s never quite been piqued. The lines, the materials, the colors – I’m into all of it and have officially started a collection with the Southwest Sunrise Pencil Case ($19) and Small Pouchette in Blue Moon ($42). All Henry Charles bags are made with vegan and non-toxic materials and feature coated-water resistant linings.
I nabbed the Pencil Case at an astounding show price at The Makeup Show LA and a couple weeks later ordered the Pouchette during the Henry Charles sample sale, which was both fantastic and awesome and worth subscribing to their email mailing list to keep an eye on.
Here’s a closer look at the Small Pouchette in Blue Moon. The combination of the mesh with the cobalt interior and tags? Stunning, sturdy and gorgeous!
You HAVE to take a look at the Henry Charles Large Deluxe Cosmetics Clutch in Blue Moon ($148), which has an incredible design – so good it’s patented. The way the bag is laid out to carry makeup, toiletries and brushes is awe inspiring.
Founded and designed by Candice Capps-Tate, the Henry Charles brand takes its name from a combination of Candice’s grandfather’s name (Charles) and the name Henry which derives from a word meaning ruler or king. Per Candice:
Women can certainly be rulers or kings in their own right, without apologizing or asking permission. We can do this without trying to be hard-nosed or unnatural, or trying to insert ourselves forcefully into a man’s world. We don’t have to limit ourselves to traditional labels commonly bestowed upon women only. We can be ourselves, dress for ourselves and showcase personality through the pieces we collect—which are classically cool and not decorated with frills and ruffles.
My Final Thoughts: I’m totally into Henry Charles and love, love, love the designer’s aesthetic.
Prices: $19 and up.
