On a whim while on a trip to grab a light pink nail polish color, I picked up the exclusive-to-Ulta ColourPop Exes & Oh’s Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette.
After trying and failing to keep up with ColourPop’s near constant release of new eyeshadow palettes, I made the conscious decision to step back from having to own every single one. As much as I love ColourPop, who can keep up with all of that? Not me!
I don’t know what got into me- extra points I had to spend or just a regular beauty lover whim, but this 12-pan palette that’s priced at $16 is now part of my makeup collection.
Oh, I know what happened – I stopped by the new KKW Beauty display in Ulta and swatched some of the eyeshadow palettes and was a bit let down! I might have to spend some quality time with those shadows but on first swatch I found them a bit dry and patchy. ColourPop and KKW Beauty (and Kylie Cosmetics) share the same parent company (Seed Beauty) so I’d expect to see somewhat similar formulas and textures between the individual brands.
There are a few Ulta-exclusive ColourPop products and I think what made me grab Exes & Ohs is the color scheme. I do love a burgundy and shimmery gold toned situation.
In fact, this palette reminds me very much of another eyeshadow palette I reviewed earlier this week, the Huda Beauty Nude Obsessions Palette in Nude Rich. They are super similar!
I’ll be working on some eyeshadow looks with both palettes and get back to you with my final thoughts. On first glance, the ColourPop Exes & Ohs palette seems like a winner. The darker matte shades are a bit on the dry side in my opinion.
You can find the cruelty-free ColourPop Exes & Oh’s Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette at Ulta priced at $16.
