The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Light to Medium has been on my radar for quite some time, and I’ll admit to having a bit of doubt as to whether it’s truly great, or just another product that has been overly hyped.
No matter what anyone says, contouring is here to stay. While I’m not a fan of overly heavy contouring, I do contour the sides of my nose and my cheekbones for the makeup inspiration photos I post on Painted Ladies. So, I was glad to purchase the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit and give it the Painted Ladies once over.
The material is a sturdy cardboard with three highlighting colors and three shading colors. I was a bit surprised to see that it doesn’t come with a mirror, but I do find mirrors on every palette to be a bit superfluous anyways. The pans are refillable and you can purchase the replacements on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Website.
I am definitely surprised by and impressed by the pigmentation of the colors in this palette. The color payoff is something to write home about! The colors are creamy and very blendable and I think it’s a high quality product. All of the colors are matte, except for Sand, one of the highlighting colors.
Overall, I think the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit is great for a makeup artist to use on a variety of skin tones. This is also a nice buy for non-makeup pros, but you might not use all of the darker contouring shades. I find myself drawn to the medium shade, Fawn, for contouring purposes, and will use the other two mostly for eyeshadow. The highlighting colors also make great eyeshadows, as well.

My Final Thoughts: The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit surprised me – it’s actually pretty great! With impressive pigmentation and color payoff, this set is ideal for both makeup artists and makeup lovers. The contour palette is also available in a Medium to Tan kit with warmer colors.
