As much as I adore and cherish my holiest of holy grail mascaras – L’Oreal Voluminous Feline – I’ve been spreading my wings, per se, and trying out some of the latest and greatest eyelash enhancing offerings on the market. There are definitely a few new mascaras to love and include in my regular rotation.
I have to say I’m intrigued by the packaging and suggestive names of many of these mascaras. There’s Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara, Nars Climax, Avon Love At First Lash and Lancôme Monsieur Big. Apparently bad girls can bag Mr. Big and find true love and satisfaction. If not, at least our lashes can look fantastic while we’re living our best lives, right?
All jokes aside, I’ve found the latest batch of mascaras to have interesting qualities that have piqued my attention. They all feel very lightweight and hold a curl like nothing else AND manage to last the live long day with zero smudges. Plus, none of these are a pain to remove, which is a huge relief and blessing of the current state of mascara technology. I’m still traumatized by a CoverGirl mascara that looked lovely but was an utter pain to remove no matter what kind of hard core makeup remover I used. The title of my review was CoverGirl 24 Hour Mascara Won’t Come Off Your Lashes For 72 Hours, which is not a lie!
The Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara made it’s way into this photo as I’d just received a personalized tube. Marc Jacobs Beauty sent one last year and it’s a very kind and thoughtful gift!
It’s always good to see the mascaras side by side, so let’s take a look. Both Avon and Benefit have plastic brushes while Nars and Lancôme have traditional bristle brushes. I think the plastic applicators help lengthen and the bristle brushes add volume. Let’s see if I’m right!
Lancôme Monsieur Big – I am super, super impressed with this mascara. This is how my lashes look a full 12 hours after I applied it – no smudges! Lush Lashes!
I actually have to say I’m digging results from the Nars and Avon the most!
What are some of your favorite mascaras right now?
