Christmas parties! New Year’s fetes! I’ve got you covered with 4 beauty must must haves for holiday party makeup looks that are guaranteed to up your game.
I do adore this time of the year when bold and bright makeup looks are a plenty. While it’s always the right time to wear your makeup as colorful as you want it, there’s just something extra special about this month of festivity and celebrations. With that being said, a bit of prep and forethought is involved and necessary to make sure your makeup look is on point and stays strong through the parties of the season.
Today I’m sharing 4 products and tools that are essential to a successful makeup application.
Step 1 – First and foremost, you gotta prep your lips! After making sure my face is thoroughly cleansed and ready for an application of paint, I always add a thick layer of lip balm. This step allows the balm to set on and deeply moisturize my lips. When I’m ready to apply my lip product, I use a damp washcloth to remove the balm along with lip flakes. Voila! Your lips will be perfectly prepped and ready to go.
Step 2 – Next, I make sure my skin is primed and ready for foundation. While I typically use a moisturizer for this purpose, there’s nothing like a shimmery skin primer to make sure you get a “glow from within” look with your makeup. I’ve been using the Danessa Myricks Beauty Prism FX Hydrating Lotion and am loving it!
Step 3 – Eyeliner can be super tricky and I make sure to use pencils that are guaranteed to stay in place and not cause a smudge-a-thon. This is achievable with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils. The colors I used in this look are Uzi on my upper lid and Goldmine on my lower lid. I love that they are so easy to apply!
Step 4 – Finally, I bring a few q-tips in a ziploc bag in my clutch or purse of choice. This is a major key beauty trick! Having those q-tips handy makes it possible to erase smudges and blotches that appear from outta nowhere!
I used the new Morphe Jaclyn Hill palette to create this makeup look which is directly inspired by Pantone’s color of 2018, Ultra Violet. Purple rain, purple rain! More on this palette coming soon, in the meanwhile here’s to a happy holiday party season!
