If I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked if I’m interested in trying 3D mascara, aka Younique, I could probably purchase a luxury purse. I have been interested in actually trying Younique, but it’s $30, which isn’t that cheap as far as mascaras go. I’m fine with my $7 L’Oreal Miss Manga mascara and will occasionally spring for $20 mascara if it’s really great.
On Christmas I was gifted with Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes and was glad to have the opportunity to test it out and give it my objective thoughts. To be honest, when I’m faced with certain (ahem, MLM) sales techniques, I find myself turned off from the products even though they might really be very good.
Younique comes with two tubes and a set of instructions.
There’s a tube of Transplanting Gel, which you use on top of your regular mascara before applying fibers, and then use at the end to seal the application of the second tube of fibers.
You also receive a tube of natural fibers made from 100% green tea fibers that you layer on top of the gel.
The application process is easy and doesn’t take very long to dry. Here are my lashes before, without any mascara.
Here are my lashes with a thin coat of my typical mascara.
Here are my lashes with the completed results on one eye.
Here are the final lashes, sealed with the gel and ready to go.
If you like dramatic lashes, you’ll love the results. However, I had a major problem with Younique which is that my eyes are very sensitive and cannot tolerate the fibers which are a major component of this mascara. I tried a couple of times to no avail and had to remove the mascara because my eyes were so irritated.
On the plus side, it’s very easy to remove Younique! Younique is also water resistant and long-wearing.
My Final Thoughts: Offering dramatic lashes in a flash, you’ll like Younique if you’re in search of majorly bulked up lashes. If your eyes are sensitive, you might want to skip it as the fibers can be irritating.
