As strange as it seems today, about ten years ago mineral makeup companies weren’t really known by the masses at large. At the time I remember conversing with a fellow beauty enthusiast who gushed about Youngblood Cosmetics, explaining that they were made from minerals, which was such a foreign concept to me at the time.
Developed and founded by Pauline Youngblood in 1996, these mineral makeup products were designed for people recovering from laser treatments, plastic surgery, and such. Youngblood’s mission statement is one I can totally support: “A passion for providing the healthiest, highest quality products, while empowering women to look and feel their best.” Youngblood’s products are paraben free, cruelty free, and gluten free.
Besides mineral foundations, Youngblood also offers some great color products with new shades just launched for their Summer 2012 collection. From this collection I tried two Mighty Shiny Lip Gels and a Creme blush.
The Mighty Shiny Lip Gels ($25.50) are gorgeous. The texture is thick without feeling gloppy, sheer and with a light hint of mint. They feel so great on your lips and won’t pull an escape act any time soon. They’re great on their own as well as on top of a lipstick, if you’d wish.
The glosses come in an unique container. They’re a squeeze tube with a hard plastic tip which makes application oh, so easy and mess free! The ingredients include Beeswax, Jojoba Oil, and Meadowfoam Seed Oil.
These glosses will be getting a lot of mileage this Summer, guaranteed.
The Luminous Creme Blush ($27) is lightweight and provides a perfect amount of flush. The texture is light and creamy and the blush blends extremely well and quickly, with impressive lasting power. The ingredients include Jojoba oil as well as vitamins C and E.
My trick to wearing cream blush and making it last is a two part operation. First, apply your makeup as usual, and before you powder pat on cream blush with your fingers. Then after powdering, add a little more cream blush.
