Lip brushes, do you use them? If not, there’s a few good reason why they exist and in this edition of Which Makeup Brush Where? The Lip Edition, I’m going to share a few beauty hacks that will make your lip product using experience that much greater.
Makeup brushes typically come in similar sizes and shapes – the tips are small and flat and are designed to deliver and apply lipstick, gloss, balm, glitter or other lip products to your lips. Lip brushes make it easy to reach the nooks and crannies of your lips and make it possible to have an even application. As a makeup artist, I always used clean or disposable lip brushes on my clients for sanitation sake.
As you can see, one of the brushes in this lineup isn’t exactly marketed as a lip brush, more on that later!
So, if you’re not a makeup artist, why use a lip brush? A lip brush makes for a smoother, more even application. Some say this helps lip colors last longer, which makes sense because you’re getting a completely even application. Also, if you’re feelin artistic mixing a few different colors or textures, a lip brush is essential.
While I use a regular lip brush like the Bdellium 542 at home, retractable lip brushes, like this one from Ilia, are very handy to have and carry in your purse. They make touching up easy – you can load up a clean brush with some color if you’re on the go. So, why do you need an angled eyeshadow/eyeliner brush and why is it useful for applying lip products? You can use an angled brush for applying color to your lips, and also to clean up any smudges around the edges of your lips. This is very useful, especially with darker lip colors.
Using a lip brush is an easy process. Apply, clean up if needed and voila!
For maximum effectiveness with an angled brush, use a bit of concealer, as well.
