And now for a subject I am completely passionate about – makeup brushes for applying eyeshadow. I love, love, love a good eyeshadow brush because they make amazing eyeshadow application happen! Today I’m going to share a few of my must have brushes for successful eyeshadow application and also show you how to use them.
So far in the Which Makeup Brush Where? series I’ve shown you essential cheek brushes, complexion brushes, eyeliner and lip brushes. It’s time for eyeshadow brushes of which there are so many to choose from.
Through the many years of makeup loving, makeup artistry and beauty blogging under my belt, I’ve had the chance to try so many different varieties of brushes specifically made for eyeshadow. FYI, I’m not knocking other methods of eyeshadow application because I’ve seen some amazing looks come from folks who use sponge-tip applicators and even their fingers!
When I’m looking to add new brushes to my makeup brush collection, I’m looking for two main features: form and function. As I’ve said many times, we are in a beautiful time in the beauty industry where fantastic makeup brushes can be found at all price ranges. There are three main brushes I consider essential for applying: blending brushes, pencil brushes and flat applicators.
Blending brushes come in a few different varieties.
I’ll use a longer brush like the Bdellium 785 to blend eyeshadow in my crease.
Flat eyeshadow brushes are essential to apply color directly to your eyelids.
And now for the pencil brush, which is small but mighty!
Pencil brushes are fantastic for so many reasons – for applying eyeshadow to the very outer corner of your eyelids, to the inside of your eyelids, underneath your lower eyelid and also for smudging eyeliner on your upper eyelid.
