On a budget-friendly kick these days, I recently picked up a Wet n Wild eyeshadow trio in Belgian Chocolate, wondering if it’s as good as the rumors say. For $2.99 plus a $1.00 coupon (that I found on another WNW product in the display, ahem), it was certainly worth a try!
Here’s the down and dirty: Upon first sight, gorgeous colors, totally something I would wear from a higher end brand. Love that it comes with a mirror on the side and also labels the location of the colors, but my application didn’t go by those designations – more on that later.
The trio shadows come in many shades, I chose Belgian Chocolate. Upon first swipe, I wasn’t that impressed with the color payoff; unlike many other shadows, these did not show up that strongly on my hand. I had plenty of doubt that this trio would be a dud, especially since my skin seems to need lots of pigmentation.
For the sake of experimentation, I applied the colors the same on both eyes, but on my left I did not use a primer, while I did on the right side. Dark shadow in the crease, browbone color on the lid, and dash of the lid color on the lid as well.
End results? Love the look on the left side of this photo that shows what the colors look like with primer. The side without primer? It was ok – the colors were not as intense, but not terrible.
To show how the colors wore, here’s me many hours later. Again, the side with primer also wins. I also happen to have some “party lashes” on, which you will find out more about very soon!
So, my thoughts on Wet n Wild’s shadows? Win … but use a primer first!
