It’s no secret that our favorite cheapy brand from our teen years has blown everyone away in recent years with their Color Icon eye shadows (and their Color Icon blushes are pretty good too!). I haven’t been nearly as impressed with anything outside of their Color Icon line, but I’ve been more willing to give them a try, especially since it’s not too much out of my pocket if I end up not liking the product.
WnW has released a new line of lip balms, Juicy Lip Balm, and there were only two left at my local CVS (did you know that they did away with NYC and picked up WnW again?), so I had to give them a try. By the way, I’m not sure if these are the same as the Jumbo Juicy Lip Balms that I’m seeing when I google, but I haven’t seen these at any WnW displays for at least the past year, so they’re new to me, at least. (Someone want to chime in here?)
These lip balms are HUGE in their tube – I would guess that the bullet itself is the sizes of a regular tube of lip balm, and then the casing around it adds to its size. I’ve got Raspberry and Cherry, and apparently there are a bunch of other fruit flavors, according to the rather empty display. (I guess I wasn’t the only one excited about WnW at CVS!) Both leave a subtle tint: raspberry is a pinky-magenta color, while cherry is an orangey-red:
These feel GREAT on! They just kind of GLIDE on – most lip balms feel like a waxy layer on my lips, but these are lightweight and slick, and they’re SHINY! It’s like wearing a lipgloss, but not sticky. (Also, they don’t feel like they will migrate the way lipgloss seems to on me.) And actually, I found that I appreciate the large bullet size – it only took one or two swipes to get the coverage I needed.
I feel like these are a great hybrid of lip balm, lip gloss, and lip tint – they don’t moisturize AS well as Burt’s Bees, Pangea Organics, or Jack Black (all three are my favorites for chapped lips), but then again, they have shine and color AND they stay put. I don’t know if I will buy the others (why would I need more than two??), but I will definitely LOVE the ones I have.
