Wendy’s Drugstore Rock Stars of 2010 – For The Eyes

By Wendy Larson

Continuing from yesterday, here’s part 2 of a quick review series featuring my favorite product picks from the drugstore.

For the Eyes…

Base- Nyx Eyeshadow Base in White

Applied very thinly, this guy provides  a nice tacky base for shadows to cling.  I love this for making sheer colors show up more.  When blended in correctly this product doesn’t crease at all.

Mascara- Maybelline Volum Express The Falsies in Blackest Black

I’m not so much of a fan of lengthening mascaras, so I’m a fan of any mascara that gives impressive volume…and this puppy does it.   I found it to have a similar look as Lancome Hypnose Drama but is about a 3rd of the price.  The Falsies also doesn’t fall prey to the dreaded “2 week rule” that some mascaras require. While you won’t remotely look
like you have false lashes on The Falsies gives fullness without flaking, spidering, or clumping.

Eyeshadow- Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Single in Nutty

I love Wet n Wild’s Color Icon shadows.  This shade is quickly replacing Woodwinked as my go to lid color.  Nutty is this beautiful taupey, brown, golden, greenish with a purple duo-chrome.  It’s WEIRD and pretty impossible to describe, but it’s drool inducing.

Other than the NYX e/s base, which I’m now going to have to try, I also love The Falsies and Nutty! I’d heard so many positive things about Woodwinked that I bought it and quickly regretted it; it turns too orange-y on me for some reason :( but Nutty, that’s a beeeyooooteeeful subtle and easy shadow! I’m excited about an upcoming trip to Vegas so I can search the drugstores for more Wet N Wild palettes and products that we don’t have up here in Canada.

I can see how Woodwinked would be too orange on some people. From what I understand WnW is coming out with 8 shadow palettes!
