Happy New Year’s Eve! It feels like Christmas was 2 weeks ago and it’s been 2014 for a while already. While narrowing down the list of my favorite products, I realized that I found some truly great products that I’m really excited about. It was a good year for beauty, and I’m looking forward to what comes in 2014.
Thank you, my dear readers, for being so supportive and wonderful throughout 2013! Here are my top 20 picks for my favorite products of the past year. I’m sure I’m leaving something important out, but these are the ones that jumped to the top of my mind and they’re products I reach for on a regular basis.
Not a product, per se, but I coudn’t do this list without shouting out to the new Painted Ladies mascot! I was so tired of the generic image that was in place for over 3 years, and so finally I enlisted the help of JM Tolman to create the lovely Penelope. Best decision and investment of 2013. Bar none.
These finishing powders are so luxurious and give skin such a beautiful glow in real life and in photographs. A little pricey, but so worth the purchase.
Pretty much the cutest balm ever and gives lips a gorgeous tint with shine. The big plus is that it doesn’t irritate my lips like Smith’s Rosebud Salve.
It took me a while to get around to trying this mascara, but I am a huge fan and love how it makes my lashes look so lush.
Wowzers, this budget friendly mascara really knocked me for a loop! Gives gorgeous volume and I am obsessed!
Drugstore mascara has come a LONG way in the past year and I have to say this one envies the results of Benefit’s They’re Real.
2013 was the year I finally transformed my nails, and it’s thanks to this product which eliminates hangnails.
This was also the year I eliminated my peeling nails. I owe this product a TON of thanks, literally a nail saver.
Previous to this product, I had rarely found a drugstore blush I liked, but this one get’s two enthusiastic thumbs up for a beautiful color and long-lasting formula.
10. NYX Butter Gloss
Whoo weee, these glosses are gorgeous. They give great shine and long-lasting wear that makes them feel a lot more expensive than under $5.
I have a confession: I was so stoked about the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and then went to check it out at Sephora and felt all kinds of blah about the colors. It’s just okay … and that’s the opposite of how I feel about Too Faced’s Pretty Rebel palette, which is gorgeous from beginning to end.
Ipsy, Ipsy, Ipsy! The one and only monthly sample bag I really want to deal with at this point in time. Such a great value for exactly $10.81 per month.
It started with a brush in my Ipsy Bag and ended up with the most perfect MAC 217 brush dupe ever.
I can hardly believe these long-wearing, beautifully pigmented blushes are a mere $8! Catch ‘em while Coastal Scents is having a sale – worth it and then some.
These $3 lippies are a staple in my makeup bag – can’t leave home without ‘em!
I thought the Makeup Geek eyeshadows were great, but the pigments blew me out of the water with their high quality and affordability. They’re all great, but I’m really loving Liquid Gold, Kryptonite, Insomnia, Bewitched, Blitz, and Utopia.
17. The Foreo Luna
This Clairsonic competitor uses transdermal waves to help cleanse and transform your skin. It’s helped keep my skin clear and feeling great.
These blushes are fantastic! Beautiful colors with both matte and shimmery selections, and wear time that is right up there with Nars blushes.
NYX is one of my all-time favorite lines, giving us high quality products that don’t break the bank. At under $5, the HD Concealer makes dark circles say, “adios!”
These cost all of $2.50 and are dupes for MAC’s Prolongwear Concealers. Another obsession I’m so glad I discovered this year.
Another budget-friendly blush that changed my idea of drugstore brands. Excellent quality for just $10!
These are so plush, so addictive, I want them all. I love the shine and color payoff and they really feel so great on your lips.
So, tell me, what are you favorite beauty products from 2013?
