This Is Why Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder Is A Makeup Must Have

I Bought It

By Sheila Arkee

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder is one of those a makeup “cult” favorites that shows up on makeup must lists all over the place. There’s tons of chatter about it, and almost always in positive terms. So, why is it so fabulous? It’s a simple and effective powder that feels like it would cost a pretty penny, and yet can be purchased without breaking the bank.

I have to confess I’ve had my Banana powder for so long that it’s changed names from Visage Poudre to Luxury Powder. A little bit of this goes a long, long, long way! The Ben Nye Luxury Powder comes in 4 shades, Banana, Buff, Beige Suede, and Cameo and it retails for around $13.50 for a 3 oz container.

A common complaint amongst Banana powder users that I also share has to do with the packaging. While many other loose powders have a larger lid with a reservoir that you can use to tap in and apply the powder, its not so with Ben Nye. The best technique is to tap your powder into a tissue, or even yet with a palette like the Minerals Mate.

The Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Banana isn’t straight up yellow, rather, it has a yellow undertone that blends in to nothing. The main attraction about this powder is the fact that it sets your makeup perfectly to a matte finish and suits a variety of skin tones. The powder is extremely lightweight and you don’t feel like you have much makeup on at all. It can be used all over your face, but many makeup lovers use it to set concealer under the eyes as a highlight.

The finish is beautiful and truly lives up to its stellar reputation. The ingredients include Corn Starch which is what helps with oil absorption.

So, what’s the verdict???The pros: For under $15 you can purchase a high quality, finely milled loose powder that sets your makeup without feeling cakey or heavy. The cons:  The packaging is outdated and impossible!

You can find Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder online at Camera Ready Cosmetics.

You look like Khloe Kardashian in the photo above. (which I mean as a compliment. I think she’s really pretty and is my favorite K sister – the only one I actually like.)

I love her, too! Thank you for saying that, I am so flattered!

so you would say for someone who is building up their professional kit….four shades of powder would cover it for all skin types??? I mean to set everything, Im on a budget and trying to figure out how to go about getting all of my foundations, concealers, and setting powders efficiently.

Yes, Caitlin, I think that would definitely work.
