A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.- Hannibal Lector
So I was treated to a myfaceworks – I need to heal mask with this month’s Birchbox. The premise of these masks is that you put this face-shaped product-soaked paper sheet on yourself, lie back, and let the the ingredients do their magic. The idea is neat and seemingly luxurious- a spa- style face mask for you at home.
This product alternately made me giggle and panic. At first feel the mask seems cold and slimy, it also feels like there is SOMETHING ON YOUR FACE. I felt the need to make repeated Silence of the Lambs quotes. You know, the humor helped mitigate the feeling that there was SOMETHING ON MY FACE.
If you are a little less claustrophobic, I can imagine that this product is a sweet little get-a-way. If you are even the least bit claustrophobic, or really into horror movies, this is something that will freak you out in many ways.
On the plus side, my skin felt great afterward. I even managed to fit in a Friday the 13th AND an Alien reference about face huggers while I was lying on the couch. So, my time with myfaceworks mask wasn’t a total loss.
I do think I would more than enjoy the eye masks, although I just couldn’t help myself with the Warrior’s references.
