Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to the world’s pickiest eater.
He may not look it, but my 5 year old son is supremely choosy about food and restricts himself to a few items that he can trust. He sure didn’t inherit this situation from me! Between chicken, pizza, pancakes, bread, and select fruits and veggies, I am constantly looking for ways to feed him without burning either one of us out on the same old same old.
Although we try to eat at home most often, we do sneak out for treats once a week or so. IHOP is one of our favorite haunts, where the pancakes are delectable, kids eat free from 4 pm to 10 pm, and a mom can sit down and chill for a bit.
When the opportunity to try IHOP’s new Griddle Melts came about, there was no way for me to say no! Griddle Melt sandwiches are hand-crafted and made-to-order for each guest, served on artisan sourdough bread with a choice of three fluffy omelets in a large breakfast sandwich, also available as half-sandwiches for $4.99, quite the value.
There are three Griddle Melts on the menu:
- Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese:
Sautéed fresh spinach in a fluffy egg omelet topped with roasted red peppers and onions, melted Provolone, Parmesan and Pepper Jack cheeses on grilled artisan sourdough bread. Served with your choice of hash browns, French fries or seasonal fruit. - Western:
Smoked ham and sautéed peppers and onions in a classic omelet, topped with sliced ham, melted American cheese and served on grilled artisan sourdough bread. Served with your choice of hash browns, French fries or seasonal fruit. - Ham & Egg Melt:
Sliced ham and melted Swiss and American cheeses over a fluffy egg omelet served on grilled artisan sourdough bread. Served with your choice of hash browns, French fries or seasonal fruit.
I chose the Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese Griddle Melt with a side of hash browns, which was incredibly delicious.
It is so filling that half of the sandwich came home with us, where it was even more tasty the day after. If you’re looking for something new at IHOP, I give the Griddle Melts two thumbs up.
