The Month Glossybox Earned Its Keep: Glossy Goodies From August 2012

By Sheila Arkee

There was doubt in my mind for how long Glossybox could keep its momentum.

We’ve all seen in the past sample subscription boxes have highs and lows, starting out strong and then fizzing out after a few months. This is the fourth Glossybox and I’ll just let the contents speak for themselves. Ellis Faas! Illamasqua! Ole Henrickson! Oh,  my!

Ellis Faas Glazed Lips L301  (full size, $35)

Ellis Faas, you are the gloss that I never had, and I want to get to know you better. Remember that song from the early ’90′s?

Yes, I’m so aging myself, but that’s the tune that came to mind when I saw that this luxury lip gloss was part of the box. Just this alone makes the box worth it, because it’s priced at $38, which is way out of my price range. But you know what? I like it – the texture is definitely different and I would never have tried it without Glossybox.

The other iitems n the box are equally as awesome.

Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Purity (full  size, $14)

Ole Henrickson Truth Serum (sample size, full size $48)

Touch In Sol Feel Like Honey Moon Skin Base (sample size, full size $20)

Biolage ExquisiteOil Replenishing Treatment (sample size, full size $22)

The generous samples and the fact that there are full-sizes of high-end brands makes this month’s Glossybox more than worth the $21 subscription cost. A mystery box is always a gamble. You never know if you’re going to get mostly skin care or hair care samples  – full-sized color cosmetics are never a sure bet. With that being said, I am extremely pleased with Glossybox so far.

According to the folks at Glossybox, the lacquered pink boxes are just going to keep getting better. After this epic month, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s ahead!

Here’s what was in the Glossybox in the last few months –
