When you have oily skin, using the right foundation is a matter of looking good throughout the day versus walking around with a severe oil slick situation. Through the years I’ve found quite a few foundations that do my oily skin right, but I’ve never done a full on comparison between them. All I know is that I like to use them and the aforementioned oil slick situation never happens. It was time to put three of my favorites to the test, which is how The Great Oily Skin Foundation Test came about.
Next to each other they all seem so different – Make Up For Ever is distinctively more on the olive side of the shade spectrum, while Estee Lauder and CoverGirl have distinctively peachy undertones. If there’s one thing I’ve learned through the years, it’s that the peachy undertone isn’t a bad thing. Sometimes yellow-based foundations give my skin a green undertone.
To keep this test fair, I used each of the three foundations under similar circumstances. I applied at the beginning of a typical weekday and on top of a serum. I set each foundation with Supergoop! Invincible Powder in Translucent and then went about my day. I took photos after about 9 hours of wear, so lets take a look and see how things went down. I would classify these all as medium to full foundations – they offer medium coverage and can be built up to more full coverage.
