In my life as a person with oilier skin and pores that have always needed a bit of attention to get some much-needed coverage, I’ve learned the hard way that there are some products that must be avoided at all costs.
Shimmery color directly on the offending pores? A huge no no, and as much as certain primers and moisturizers claim to fill in pores, this is often a tall order to fill! I’ve used Smashbox’s primer for many years and yet haven’t found that it effectively deals with my … well … gaping holes.
And then I found L’Oreal’s Studio Secret #1, and that’s when my faith was restored.
This stuff is goooooooooooooooooooooooooood.
The texture is lightweight and you don’t really feel much of it when it’s on your skin. Don’t worry, the pink color doesn’t show up on your skin, either!
When foundation was applied over the primer – and even without foundation, for that matter – I was shocked at how well it covered my pores and even those holes on my nose that have foreve bothered me. In this case, the proof is in the pudding, so check out my totally unedited photo.
I’m officially impressed.
Priced at around $12.99, this stuff is a *steal* and will have a featured place in my makeup wardrobe.

This is also a great eyeshadow primer
Good tip! I’m going to try it.
I’m sorry, but I don’t see a difference from side to side—looks the same.
so no easy to photograph, but in person there definitely *was* a noticeable difference. Also, it does work great as an eyeshadow base – thanks, Ninjagato!
I’m curious is this is better/worse/the same as the Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion – Pore Perfecting blend. I’ve been using the UD – but I think the Loreal would be easier to get a hold of if it’s better/same.
You know, I’ve never tried the UD product. I wish I could tell you!
Brandi, it’s worth a shot at under $10 bucks
