In the spirit of the New Year and new resolutions and goals, I posed a question to several of our luminary makeup artist contributors.
Could they offer some tips and advice to our readers have decided that 2010 is the year they will pursue their dream of becoming a makeup artist?
So, from the artists who are living their own dreams and currently working in the beauty indsutry, here are their words of advice that will help you devise your own plans and dreams!
Never give up! Also, never be late to any job! The first impression is the last impression. Take any job you can and work with as many people you can at first to get your skills up to par.
My best advice is to get a job at a counter so that you can practice everyday you are at work. I would suggest one of the more creative lines like MAC where they offer some training. Every client that walks in is a potential customer, they should sit as many down as they can and practice!
For the more serious makeup artists, definitely assisting someone who is already where you want to be. Don’t be afraid of contacting them, the worst they can say is no.
