The brand new Pixi Beauty Pixiglow Cake in shades GildedBare Glow and PinkChampagne Glow rececently arrived at Painted Ladies headquarters, and I have a couple of confessions to make.
First, the name! I find Pixiglow Cake to bring to mind all kinds of delightful images. A cake of glow? I’m into it! These are three-in-one light diffusing powders that not only add seamless glow to your skin, they add skin benefits with ingredients that include peptides, ceramides and antioxidants.
These powders can be used blended together to create one glowy, diffused look, or they can be used separately as a highlighter, blush and bronzer.
The second confession? I had a bit of sticker shock when I learned the price of these pretty powders, which run $28 a piece. I think I have to get over my mindset that all drugstore beauty products are automatically going to be $20 and under, because times are’t just a’changing, they have changed! Higher quality makeup is now more accessible and as such, the expectations of their prices have to increase, as well.
Here’s a look at Pixiglow Cake in GildedBare Glow, a champagne/tan ombre.
Here’s Pixiglow Cake in PinkChampagne Glow, which starts off as light pink then graduates to a gorgeous bronze.
I swatched the both of the palettes in their mixed state, meaning I blended the colors together, except for that lightest pink in PinkChampagne Glow.
Pixi Beauty included a selfie light with this package so we could take selfies and show the proof in the pudding. I’m wearing both Pixiglow Cakes – Gilded Bare is blended together as my highlight and PinkChampagne is blended as my blush. The results? Gorgeous.
My Final Thoughts: While I had a bit of sticker shock over the price of the new Pixiglow cakes, I will say they are definitely beautiful and give great, smooth glow to my skin without looking over the top.
Price: $28 each
