When it comes down to trying new foundations, I will admit to doing so with a cynical eye. New? Improved? HD? Yeah, right, I think, going in with the assumption that I might not like said product. It’s a side effect of having tried scores of foundations through the years and often times not feeling entirely happy with the end results.
However, more often than not I am proved wrong, giving something a chance and then finding myself entirely besotted. Such is the case with Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation.
An oil-free base that offers SPF 15, this foundation offers time-released skin energizers and Vitamin C for an antioxidant boost. I use shade Medium M3 which happens to be the perfect match for my MAC C4 skin.
What I really like about this foundation is that it has a creamy feel, but your skin won’t feel overwhelmed with moisture. The coverage is buildable and it not only truly covers, but it photographs beautifully. In fact, I wore it the day I did the Milk of Magnesia primer challenge.
How does Smashbox’s HD foundation compare to Make Up For Ever’s version? Make Up For Ever’s HD foundation happens to be another one of my favorite foundations. The texture of Smashbox’s is creamier and I feel like Make Up For Ever’s version gives more of a full-coverage effect.
You can find Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation at Sephora.
