Hold the presses, I have found it! The neutral eyeshadow palette you need in your! Yes, the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette is a makeup must have. Put it on your Sephora Friends & Family sale wish list, because it really is a great buy.
Priced at $49, the Smashbox Full Exposure palette is a great deal that comes with a lot of beauty goodies.
To give you a closer look, I put together a quick video overview of this fabulous neutral shimmery and matte palette.
The package includes 14 shimmery, glitter, and matte eyeshadows, a dual-ended makeup brush that is actually pretty great, a generous mirror, a face chart with application suggestions for different eyeshapes, and a mini Full Exposure mascara sample.
While I wasn’t too impressed with the mascara sample, I was surprised by how much I liked the brush that was included in Full Exposure. One end has a blended brush that is very similar to the MAC 217/Coastal Scents Pro Fluff Brush and other end has an ingenieus double-sided brush similar to the MAC 239/Bdellium 773 that you can use for the matte shades on one side and shimmery shades on the other.
The shadows in this palette are a delight and easy to work with.
I found that the glittery shadows on the left side need a little more coaxing than the shimmery shadows on the right side, for whatever reason. Make sure to use a primer with them and pat the shadows into your lid with the brush to get the maximum impact. The matte shadows are much easier to work with and some of the most buttery mattes I’ve ever used, which is a feat in and of itself.
Now, I’m going to say something that some might find shocking, but I like Smashbox Full Exposure more than Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette, and I find the colors in this set to be creamier and more pigmented than Naked 2 and the matte shadows in the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, as well. I think the color payoff is better in Full Exposure and easier to work with. While I do like my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, I don’t tend to reach for it so often because the colors are a little too smooth and the colors blend in with each other.
The look possibilities with Full Exposure are endless and you’ll have a lot of fun creating looks from daytime to dramatic.
My Final Thoughts: I really enjoy my Smashbox Full Exposure palette and have been reaching for it often. The shadows are buttery smooth and highly pigmented and the mattes are really easy to work with. Great job, Smashbox!
