Happy Saturday, September 1st and what a perfect day for going through one’s stash of makeup and beauty products to revisit some old favorites and plain old have fun with it all. That’s what I’ve been doing this morning and, dare I say, it’s a perfect way to refresh and prepare for the long weekend ahead.
Makeup has always been a source of enjoyment and relaxation to me. As fellow makeup lovers, I’m sure you know just what I’m talking about! Before I had a child makeup time was a quiet, meditative time. As a mom it’s rarely a quiet time, but a way for me to tune out everything that’s going on, like the same episode of the Wiggles played for the zillionth time.
For this teal and brown look I took inspiration from two eyeshadow palettes, two worlds apart in terms of price range – the NYX Avant Pop palette in Nouveau Chic and Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 5 #7. They’re both lovely, but oooooh, the Natasha Denona is incredible. I am so glad I ordered a Natasha Denona palette in the current Sephora sale, because the quality is unparalleled.
To create this look I stared off with IT Cosmetics CC+ in Tan along with Tarte Shape Tape Concealer and IT Cosmetics Perfect Lighting in Radiant Light. I applied Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Prosecco Pop. It’s a lovely highlighter – remember when I demonstrated several ways to wear it? I set everything with Maybelline Fit Me! Loose Finishing Powder in Light. Light is a misnomer because it’s the perfect shade for my medium tan skin! Also, this powder runs extremely warm, FYI. On my cheeks in IT Cosmetics Sunshine In A Compact in Warmth and Urban Decay Blush in Obsessed.
On my eyes is a combination of colors from the NYX and Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes. My upper and lower eyeliner are Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Liner in Smoke and Mushroom.
My mascara is L’Oreal Voluminous Feline and my brows are set with ColourPop Dop Taupe brow pencil and NYX Blonde Brow Mascara.
My lips are lined with Milani All Natural lip pencil, with Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in Rich Brown Nude and Marc Jacobs Kissabilty Lip Vinyl – another juxtaposition of low end and high end that works quite well!
Here’s to a fun Labor Day weekend!
