I have prestige brands that I love, but like many beauty addicts, I am always on the lookout for drugstore products that deliver – there’s nothing better than paying bargain prices for high quality. So when I saw that Maybelline’s new cream eye shadows, Color Tattoo by Eyestudio, had been awarded 2012 Editor’s Choice Best Cream Shadow (Budget) by Temptalia.com (one of my favorite beauty blogs), I definitely had to give these a try.
I picked up the three shades that I couldn’t live without: Tough as Taupe, Painted Purple, and Audacious Asphalt. (Yes, I’m crazy for taupes, purples, and grays!) When I swatched them, I was impressed by their smoothness and pigmentation. Painted Purple has a hint of metallic sheen to it, while Audacious Asphalt has teeny tiny microglitter. They apply true to color and are easy to blend, and most importantly, they last quite a while without creasing, even without eye primer, which is great, because cream shadows make a great base by themselves.
At half the price of my favorite prestige brand cream shadows, these were quite a steal, and they come in some gorgeous, vibrant bright colors that I’d like to try as well. The next time there’s a good BOGO sale or I have a few ExtraBucks, I will definitely have to grab some more!

Thanks for the review! Now know what to go buy for Sunday’s photo shoot.
I have the taupe and the bronze, probably will get the asphalt one but I returned the purple as it was streaky, patchy and poor pigmentation. Glad yours are working for you
The purple was definitely the least smooth of the three, but I still like it anyway
