Actually, this should probably be titled something other than Retro Corner since Love’s Baby Soft is still going strong and they are adding to their family! You can now purchase Berry Sweet, Sugar Kiss and the newly added Heart Throb, but the original is still number one for me. My first experience with it was at my 10th birthday party with my friends. Among the rainbow earrings, plush unicorns and other goodies was a large pink bottle of Baby Soft. This was really unheard of for me. I never expected a fragrance, but when I sprayed it, it was instant love (no pun intended).
To this day I still like using it. While I do like sophisticated fragrances, I also love clean, simple ones, and Love’s Baby Soft fits the bill.
The ad below was featured in the late 80s/early 90s. Be sure to also visit their Facebook page for new info and updates!

Love’s Baby Soft was one of my signature scents, along with Love’s Fresh Lemon-from 7th grade until 10th grade…..until I graduated to Charlie….ew! When I smell Charlie now I want to gag. When I was in college it was Ralph Lauren,Ciara, and Cinnabar.
In 4th-6th grades I used those Coty solid 4 scent compacts…Ylang-Ylang was my favorite and I always used that one up first. Plus I loved mixing and matching scents-I felt SO grown up! I also used Sweet Honesty from Avon-my Mom gave that to me and I felt like that was my first ‘grown up’ perfume! Mom and our Avon lady had a close personal relationship!I loved it when she came to visit!
Wow-you just took me waaaaay back on a fun rememberance of my fragrance preferences! It’s also a bit bittersweet as it brought up memories of my Mom….I didn’t realize how much Mom influenced my makeup and perfume beginnings until *just this moment*.
I looooooved this scent and totally remember the ad!!!!
I enjoyed using the Lemon scented Loves Baby Soft. If available I would still purchase it today. I used it from my freshman year in highschool through my senior year. WHY did they quite producing this scent? Does anyone know if there is another like it or similar to it on the market?
Funny you should mention that, Sara, because I brought it up on their Facebook page. I never had the lemon scent, but remember loving how it smelled in the store.
I don’t really remember what it smelled like anymore, so I’m not of much help with recommendations, but maybe check out Fresh’s Lemon Sugar line?

Love’s Baby Soft was one of my staples in the ’70′s. As well as Love’s fresh Lemon, Sweet Honesty, Green Apple, Chantily, Charly and Tabu. The ’80′s was Opium, Chanel No. 5, Ciara and Liz Claiborne.
Just wrote about Love’s Baby Soft, it’s not extinct but it sure is retro…
