In my travels as a makeup junkie, I haven’t come across many items that qualify as a complete fail, but this one takes the cake. A complete fail to the point that I want my $9 back, because that’s about 2 Starbucks Grande Iced Mochas with change to spare, and I would enjoy those a heckuva lot more than the tube of this product that is lying around.
Thinking it was similar to Smashbox’s O Glow, I picked up Almay’s Smart Shadow Blush over the weekend in Pink/Rose and was looking forward to trying it, after all, who doesn’t love drugstore dupes?
A blush that is supposed to adjust color according to the person who is wearing it, the texture is mousse-like, and came out of the tube a lighter pink shade laced with small red pigment.
I was thinking the payoff would be a bit more vibrant, and perhaps my oily skin has something to do with it, but it barely shows up on me! I do get a bit of a “glow”, which is nice, but it’s more like a highlighter and less of a blush. As for durability, it didn’t last as much as some other cream/mousse blushes I’ve tried.
This might work for people with less oily skintones, but as for me … FAIL!!!!
Have you had any product fails lately?

If it makes you feel better, Sheila, it didn’t work for me either. I never did end up returning it. I threw it away.
The Almay Smart Concealer ALSO fails! It doesn’t conceal a dang thing on me, and you and I have similar skin tones. The blemishes and undereye shadows show straight through.
At least their “smart” products are consistent…?
The foundation that blends with your color tone also fails!
Glad I haven’t spent any of my hard earned $$ on these! I am however interested in the Wet ‘n Wild versions, supposedly they work?
I tried the foundation of this and it sucked too. It did not match my skin tone, there was no SPF (a big thing for me), and it was DRY. I returned it that same day!
Great idea, but they need to work on the formula a bit longer.
I never had that much good luck with Almay products.
Hmmm, I would say Wet N Wilds adjusting foundation. It barely registered if at all. But hey what’s not good the goose doesn’t mean the gander may not like it. LOL
