Plump Up the Volume

By Megan

I have had a long and complicated relationship with Limp Plumpers. My first run-in with these modern wonders was a nameless lipstick in 2001 at Sephora .The color was like Pepto Bismol and Chalk had an angry cinnamon baby. The lip plumper worked, if you consider making my lips turn bright red and swell to twice their size the definition of working. I had to walk through the Galleria looking like the Rolling Stones logo.

You would’ve thought I learned my lesson, but if anyone of us ever learned our lesson about cosmetics we wouldn’t be reading or writing for a beauty blog. So I had nasty cinnamon run-in with DuWop Lip Venom, had a minor chemical burn with  Too Faced Lip Injection, and had beautiful color and no noticeable difference with Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips(but the color was THAT GOOD). I am currently in hate with any lip product that has anything tingly in it.

So what in the world made me buy Physicians Formula Plump Potion? I will give you the intelligent reason, the gut reaction reason, and finally the Megan reason.

1.)    Intelligent Reason- The ingredients- The potion has dehydrated Hyaluranic acid spheres which are going to actually react to the water in your skin and plump you up. Hyaluranic acid is called “skins fountain of youth.” There are some scientific reasons why, but all I understand is : “ science, science, science, science- make you look younger.”

2.)    The Gut Reaction Reason- The packaging states that it is non-irritating, so there was that glimmer of hope I could get those fabulous bee-stung lips with out the pain of inflammation

3.)    The Megan Reason- Have you seen the packaging? I purchased the clear color  and it looks like it belongs in the Fortress of Solitude. I expected to screw off the cap and see a Princess Leia hologram hop out and tell me to look for Obi-Wan Kenobi. It is the coolest looking thing!

To be honest, I don’t see a lot of lip plumping. What I do see is a lot of lip smoothing and that is a real bonus. The price on this is $8.75 and there are constantly coupons and specials at the chain drugstores for Physicians Formula products. This is a solid clear lip gloss and a happy edition to my vanity.

You mention the galleria, so you are in Houston? I get completely lost in that mall every time.

I had lived in Houston until about 2 years ago. That mall is crazy isn’t it?! I still love it.

This gloss has been a staple of mine since it came out, I think. I absolutely love it. I can throw it on over any liner, lipstick or other gloss and it just finishes the look for me. It doesn’t really plump, as you say, but it makes my lips so shiny and glossy that they look fuller and the appearance of the lines in my lips is diminished. And it stays put for a good long time.

  • Very interesting…thanks for sharing.
