One thing you need to know about me is that I have a soft spot in my heart for purple eyeshadows.
When my parents officially gave me the OK to wear makeup by presenting me with a generic collection of makeup upon my high school graduation, I experimented with every shadow color and found that I loved the way the purples looked with my brown eyes. And so, for the next few months, off I went into the world with purple colored eyes and orange lipstick.
Yes, it’s true. On a sidenote, as a makeup junkie, having to wait until your high school graduationto be allowed to wear makeup is a LONG TIME!
Enter Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner Smoky Collection. Not being able to resist these purple shadows when I came across them, I liked the way there were several options … lighter colors for more casual occasions, and darker shadows for times I wish to appear more … sultry.
As always, I used MAC’s Paint Pot in Bare Study underneath, and was fairly pleased with the final look.
For the purple colors, you really have to work hard to grab some color and make them look vibrant on your eyes, and that’s my only beef with them.
For this look, I thought I’d change things up a bit and lined with a green liner from L’oreal’s HIP collection that I’d picked up at my local dollar store a while back.
The shadows are not terrible, but at the same time, I wouldn’t call them perfection. The shadows are a nice value, though, and while they’re priced at $10.95, I almost always find coupons at the Physicians Formula display at my local drugstore. You can also buy them online at Drugstore.com. The shade I used is now just $5.97!
