It’s that time – one of my favorites – for a seasonal skincare recap! The cold season is here and, as such, it’s time to re-evaluate the products I’m using to keep my normal to oily skin in tip top shape.
So, here’s the stats on my current skin situation. The oily skin remains, but I will say my skin veers a little more to the normal part of the normal to oily skin spectrum. I want to keep my skin clear, radiant and as smooth sailing as possible.
To cleanse, I’ve been starting off with a jar of Beauty Counter Cleansing Balm I’d had for ages and never got around to using. As far as cleansing balms go, it’s decent but there’s nothing exceptional about it. I do love that it came with a muslin cloth – I do love muslin cloths for double cleansing and will have to order some on Amazon. I wrote about Cleansing Balms here, if you’d like to know more.
I am an adherent of double cleansing, so I always following makeup removal with a gentle soap or cleanser and my Clarisonic Mia 2. I’ve heard many great things about the cleansing power of Nubian Heritage African Black Soap. It’s appropriate for all skin types and cleanses and detoxifies skin with Oats, Aloe and Cocoa Pod Ash. It doesn’t strip my skin and I’m liking it so far.
I’m toning my skin with Derma E Radiance Toner which is alcohol free and contains glycolic acid and rooibos to exfoliate and brighten skin . I’m a fan of both glycolic acid and rooibos (tea, that is – really, it’s very delicious) and this is very gentle on my skin.
I’m also using the Derma E Rejuvenating Face Oil as my very last skincare step. Yes, even normal to oily skin types need moisture and a facial oil is a great way to seal the deal and keep your skin in shape.
After I’m toned I use Lancome Genifique serum, which I have to say has the most glamorous packaging ever. I love how the dropper picks up the precise amount you need for your face and neck. Next I apply Osmotics R + R Longevity Serum with Renovage and Retinol. I’ve been wanting to include a retinol in my skin care routine to help with skin texture, fine lines, deep wrinkels and pore size. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all and I’m really enjoying the results so far.
Before I apply the facial oil mentioned above, I finish with Derma E Skin Restore Advanced Peptides & Collagen Moisturizer and then Aquaphor on my lips and eyelids with this wonderful Avon eyelash serum on my eyelashes. During the day I typically wear the Lancome moisturizer and sunscreen I mentioned here or the Derma E Sun Defense Mineral Oil-Free Sunscreen.
