Over the past few years since the introduction of the Clarisonic facial brush, I have stood on the sidelines wistfully wanting one for my self, and yet unwilling to fork over the beaucoup bucks.
And then there’s the Olay Professional ProX Advanced Cleansing System, a $30 alternative to the Clarisonic. With positive reviews abound for this nifty gadget, I finally caved in to my desires for this brush.
I can’t compare this brush the Clairsonic, but I can tell you that it’s a gadget that will effecitvely and efficiently exfoliate your epidermis. The brush is operated with 2 AA batteries and comes with a brush that can be removed and replaced every 3 to 4 months. There are two different speeds controlled by two buttons on the top of the brush.
Warning, figuring out how to install the batteries is a royal pain and then some! FYI, you have to gently jiggle off the bottom part of the brush while firmly holding on to the top of the brush. A. Royal. Pain.
The feeling of the brush is extremely mild. I am used to roughing up my face with a scrubby towel on a regular basis, and found the brush to not feel scruffy, and yet get rid of all of my dry flakies and help my makeup go on more smoothly. I use it once every couple of days, but if you have sensitive skin, start off with once a week.
The kit comes with a small Olay Exfoliating Renewal cleanser with microbeads, but you can use the cleanser of your choice with a dab of baking soda.
After using this would I ever want to purchase the higher priced Clairsonic? Honestly, no. I’m happy with this one and give it beaucoup props!
