Lip stains are a hot commodity these days. The hard part is finding the right formula and shade. Some lip stains out there (ahem, Revlon) are so pigmented and bright that they might blind that cute guy walking down the street. Others (cough, Benefit, cough) last a total of 20 minutes on your lips. If you are simply interested in a natural “I-just-ate-a-cherry-popsicle” look and don’t want to spend your life savings getting it, then Maybelline Color Sensational has plenty of choices for you.

The two colors I use are Blushing (for a very natural look) and Cranberry Crush (for a little more impact, but not enough to blind anyone). They are very easy to apply, literally like a felt tip marker. The color lasts for hours when worn under a simple lip balm, and make a nice base for lipstick application. Plus it smells very lightly of berries. At $7 a pop, you just can’t lose.
