Make Up For Ever’s Technicolor Palette Makes Brights Fun and Wearable

By Sheila Arkee

Hello, colorful new love of my eyeshadow wearing life….

Fresh for Spring 2013 is Make Up For Ever’s beautiful new Technicolor palette, which, for bold makeup lovers like myself is utter perfection. This bright palette has three bright statement colors along with five classic shadows to mix and match for any occassion. Kind of like a neutral kit gone, well, fun!

The colors in the Techicolor palette include: Black, Yellow, Apple Green, Turquoise, Lilac, White, Espresso, and Yellow Beige. Yellow and yellow beige have a shimmery texture, and the others are mattes.

Growing up I had a serious love for Old Hollywood musicals. From Singin’ in the Rain to The Wizard of Oz, I wore out my family’s copies of these flicks, filmed in glorious Technicolor yielding rich, beautiful pictures that are classics even in this highly digital age. Dany Sanz, the Creative & Artistic Director of Make Up For Ever, has also loved those saturated images and high-pigmentation, directly inspiring the creating of the Technicolor palette. Using the same techniques as the original filmakers, these vibrant shadows are over-saturated to make them appear more alive.

The kit includes a mirror and two mini brushes, which are actually a lot nicer quality that the typical palette fare. I used them to apply color on my lid and under my lower lid.

Matte shadows are a tricky formula, and Make Up For Ever has cracked the code on producing pigmented shadows that don’t appear the least bit chalky. I didn’t have any problem building up these colors with a flat brush, and find that they blend nicely and wear well, lasting far into the day with no migration onto the rest of my face. If you are looking to introduce some bright colors into your makeup wardrobe, this is a really well-made palette.

Make Up For Ever TechniColor palette? I think this is the beginning of a beautiful (and colorful) friendship.

You can find the Technicolor palette at Sephora and Make Up For Ever Boutiques, where it retails for $45.

For some reason I want to see more bright colors, like an orange or pink shade but I love what you did with your eye!
