Can an “As Seen On TV” beauty product be any good? That’s the question I was asking when I received Magic Minerals By Jerome Alexander to review recently.
Having been there, done that, seen one too many mass produced flaky products, I had my Doubts. With a capital D.
Jerome Alexander is a makeup artist who has sold makeup products on HSN in the past. Magic Minerals claims to be a 3-in-1 foundation, corrector, and concealer that will adjust to your skin color. This product is fragrance and talc-free and the main ingredients include kaolin, which is an ingredient that helps eliminate oily skin. This powder contains Vitamins C and E and has 4 color-correcting specks of pink, mint, lavender, and yellow.
While I didn’t find this powder to provide full coverage at all, it is a nice last step in the makeup process to set your foundation and add illumination. When I first apply this powder I do find that it comes off looking ashy, and there’s no way around that. However, as the powder oxidizes, it matches in well with my skin tone. I find it gives my skin some nice glow and I do really like the way it sets foundation and provides lasting oil control.
The brush included in this kit is a standard brush and not much to write home about but the dense sponge is definitely a keeper. The mascara is a nice, decent mascara that provides natural results, not like the dramatic results from L’Oreal Miss Manga.
My Final Thoughts: I’ll definitely keep using Magic Minerals, but it’s not going to replace any of my current liquid foundations for complete full coverage. It’s not quite as magical as the company claims, but it’s a nice setting powder that gives my skin a glow. Every time I wear this I get a compliment, so something is right!
