It’s now month 2 of my Ipsy sample bag and I’m still feeling excited about it all, which is a good thing. July 2013’s bag is a pink plastic number that I’ll definitely re-purpose for all of the loose something or other beauty products milling about in my life.
The contents of July 2013 are:
-Nailtini nail polish in Mai Tai (full-size) – love it and will be trying it soon.
– 3 eyeshadow colors from BH Cosmetics California Collection (full-size) – pretty eyeshadows, but mediocre quality.
– Pop Beauty Lipstick Crayon (full-size) – loving this and using it!
– Coola Mineral Sunsncreen (deluxe sample) – Well, that’s a “cool” idea and I can’t wait to try it.
– beautysexhair Soy Renewal Beach spray (deluxe sample) – As soon as I saw this I decided who I would give it to.
It’s an interesting mix of products, but I have to admit I was looking forward to getting a sample size of Benefit’s Benetint, which was leaked as a spoiler before the official release. I will be using everything except for the beach spray, because let’s face it, that’s not going to put any kind of dent in my curl situation. On the bright side, the Pop lipstick pencil is amazing. Gorgeous color.
The eyeshadows on the other hand, aren’t my favorite choice. BH Cosmetics is a retailer of those 88, 120 or more palettes and although they are good quality shadows, you need to do a lot of fancy brushwork to make them show up, especially on my darker skin. For maximum impact, apply with a dampened brush!
Final thoughts: After paying $10, I sure got plenty of loot in July’s Ipsy bag, which includes brands I’ve never used before. While I’m not entirely please with the contents, I have to say this is a good value and I’m keeping my subscription.
Price: $10, available online.
