And my mind is blown by that.
And I’m a little disappointed that there’s no official Kindergarten graduation, because he would be so cute in a cap and gown!
It wasn’t the easiest year, and just like my post on size discrimination, it’s going to take me a while to process the events and put them in writing, but this story is one that is very important to share not just for Autism parents, or special needs parents, but for parents and guardians everywhere.
Andre finished Kindergarten in a different school district than the one he started, and had a much happier experience than at the beginning of the year. While I’m glad he has come so far and is such a joyful boy, I am also extremely unhappy with his previous school district. It was some sad times, folks.
All I want to say is this - never ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER give up advocating for and defending your children.
Andre has Autism. You can read more of his story here.
