Who likes shiny skin? I don’t, I don’t! Hello and happy Friday! It’s your friendly normal to oily skinned beauty blogger and reviewer reporting to duty with a look at the brand new Veil Cosmetics Automatte, which is a mattifying base and touch up skincare product.
Veil Cosmetics came across my radar a few years ago with their complexion fix and I have nothing but good things to say about this makeup artistry driven beauty brand. I love the brand’s attention to skin and was eager to try out Automatte.
Veil Cosmetics Automatte is a lightweight powder-free balm that can be used by any skin tone. It’s designed to prevent shine from breaking through and help smooth skin. You can use it as a base for your makeup and also as a touch up product throughout the day, even as a base for your lips! It’s oil free, paraben free, vegan, cruelty free, and Super HD.
The compact conveniently comes with a sponge on a lower compartment – I’m charmed by the shape of the sponge which perfectly fits the compartment! I recommend using this sponge to apply the product – it’s so lightweight this is the most effective delivery system.
I put Veil Cosmetics Automatte to the test on a typically warm Summer day. It served as the base for my makeup and impressively kept my oily skin looking good (unlike my recent Chanel experience). There’s a bit of glow on my forehead, but it’s far from being a slick of oil.
The biggest issue I have with Veil Cosmetics Automatte is the fact that it largely contains dimethicone, which is an ingredient my skin won’t tolerate over long periods of use. If you don’t have a sensitivity issue with this ingredient, then all systems go!
My Final Thoughts: Veil Cosmetics Automatte does deliver weightless and natural mattifying results and I’m really impressed with how it helps my makeup look fresh all day. However, if you have sensitivity to dimethicone, you will want to skip it.
