Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil Is A Heavenly Lip Treatment That’s Splurge Worthy

By Sheila Arkee

Hello, lover. Yes, I’m talking about you Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment.

If you’ve been reading Painted Ladies for a while, you’ll know that I am a tried and true fan of Hourglass’s No. 28 Primer. Smooth and nourishing, it’s one of the best foundation primers I’ve ever used and I would feel lost without it in my makeup routine! An ardent fan of Hourglass Cosmetics,  I have never met a product that I didn’t completely love, which absolutely applies to No. 28 Lip Treatment, the Gold Standard for Lips.

And when I say Gold Standard, I really mean it – this luxury treatment has a 24k gold-plated, anti-bacterial palladium tip that allows the product to evenly disperse and lend a cooling sensation. To access the product, simply press the button directly behind the tip. That’s some great pagckaging, right there!

The lip treatment itself is an antioxidant rich blend of botanicals, vitamins, and cutting edge actives to hydrate, heal and protect your lips.  The texture of the lip oil is different than anything I’ve tried in the past: not sticky, not too flimsy, and chooses to stay on you and not your surrounding areas.

Like the foundation primer, Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil contains 14 essential oils including Bois De Rose, Lavender, Geranium, Petitgrain, Lemon, Rosemary, Vanilla, Clove, Amyris, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Cedar, and Rose Geranium, as well as lipid-rich plant oils that include Hazelnut, Kukui Nut, Rose Hip, Borage, Olive, Green Tea, Cherry Pit, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, and Evening Primrose, and is fortified with vitamins A, B5, C, and E.

Also included are three powerful actives:

Saliporine 8, an extract derived from a hardy succulent, was shown to reinforce the natural moisturizing factor of the skin. Moisture levels in the skin increase by 6000% after applying it twice a day for 28 days.

Volulip™, a blend of a plant extract and the natural peptide Pal-KMO2K, helps remedy internal and external lip texture. In clinical testing, Volulip™ improved lip shape, softness, volume, and hydration for 69% of volunteers.

– In clinical testing, K3 Viamerine has been shown to hydrate all three epidermal layers and reduce the depth and appearance of wrinkles.

The only (and I mean only) downside of this luxury lip treatment is the price tag. At $42 it’s a tad higher priced than my usual lip balm favorites, but it’s truly a few steps above the rest. Hourglass products are free from parablens, pthalates, sulfates, syntheitic dyes and petroleum derivatives. You can find Hourglass products online and in Sephora stores.

This sounds amazing. My dry lips could really use something like this

The decongestants I’ve been using to get through this horrible allergy season have given me terrible chapped lips. I’ve been using this for a week and I’ve noticed a definite improvement. I only use it at night because it is so expensive. But so far I think it’s worth the splurge.

What are your favorite lip balms? I wonder if this is similar to AmorePacific’s lip balm (which is priced at $35 I believe)
