It’s finally Friday, and to celebrate the first day of Spring tomorrow, I decided to break out my most Spring-like look.
In my culture, the New Year is celebrated on the first day of Spring, which is an awesome way to usher in a brand new beginning. Called “Now Ruz” (pronounced “no ruse”), it’s an ancient tradition and a huge deal. Families celebrate by eating tons of fresh, good food, getting dressed up, and parents always give their children presents. Growing up it was like I got to celebrate Christmas twice every year!
Traditional New Year display. FYI - I did none of this. Bad me! Courtesy of www.guardian.co.uk
Although I’ll probably be kicking it in my jeans and staying casual, you know I’ll be made up from the neck up for a party. It’s my duty as a beauty blogger, right?
Here’s what I have going on …
Eyes: NYX trio in TS 27: Platinum Pink/Salmon/Jazzy Bronze. Can I just say I totally love these colors? Would be perfect for a bride!
Cheeks: NYX Ultimate Pearl Eyeshadow (shhh!) in Copper Pearl. Totally awesome for a blush!
Lips: NYX Black Label Lipstick in Chakra, topped with NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Baby Rose. Excellent nudey-pink combo.
Here’s a helpful hint – I always swipe lipgloss on the back of my hand and apply from there to avoid mixing the lip gloss with my lipstick or lip pencil! Or, you could just wipe the lip gloss wand afterward with a tissue.
FYI, our readers are ALWAYS welcome to submit FOTD photos. I’d LOVE to post a roundup of you guys on a regular basis!
What is your FOTD (face of the day)?

I love the bronzy/copper look on the eyes! I actually almost did that myself today, still might as I haven’t done my makeup yet. Lazy me.
Wonderful yet again. I know it’s horrible to admit, but I have never tried NYX. I’m always drawn to the beautiful shadows whenever I see them though. I guess one of these days I will get around to trying them.
What culture do you speak of? I love learning about that kind of stuff!
I have tried a NYX eyeshadow before and liked it, but it was all smashed up (my fault, I’m a clutz sometimes). It was a dark brown and very pigmented. I had to toss it out though because it was just making a big mess everywhere.
Ms. Boom – it’s the Persian new year

I hadn’t ever heard of NYX until about last month. I can’t wait to get my hands on some.
I have to say that I am continually impressed by the high quality of NYX in general. It’s good stuff!!!
Do you also celebrate Shab-e Yaldaa? I just learned about it!
Briget – my family never celebrated it! According to my parents, it wasn’t given a lot of attention in their own families, but only in recent times did it regain prominence. I experienced my first Yalda about five years ago – was fun!
It sounds like fun! And such an ancient tradition, really cool!
It’s a great way to spend the night “in” – good food and games
You look so fresh-faced and glowy!
and the fact that you used NYX is always a bonus
