Recently I attended a makeup function where the following question was posed to a group of makeup-loving women: where do you go to get your makeup inspiration?
The answers ranged from blogs to movies, but the consistent answer was … MAGAZINES!
As for myself, I find a ton of inspiration in magazines, as well. While I’m not that into Allure at the moment, I can never get enough of InStyle. It’s my gold standard of magazines and every time I peek into the pages, I feel like I’m really learning about new products and techniques.
One of the reasons I adore InStyle so much is that it’s just so visually appealing – the photography is always top-notch and product-focused.
My favorite section is the interviws with celebrities on their makeup routines and favorite products – I love peeking into their makeup bags!
Where do you get your makeup inspiration from?

Scott Barnes ABOUT FACE & Way Bandy’s book.
I’m not a celebrity person but I love to read over and over how to apply makeup (especially when it comes to lips) and when I’m ready to clean myself up, I think of my books or go to them and put myself together.
I get most of my inspiration now from online blogs and beauty websites. I USED to get it mainly from beauty magazines, like Allure, but I quit subscribing when I realized all they did was keep repeating themselves and I felt I wasn’t learning anything new. There also wasn’t enough actual beauty info in Allure for me, and too much social/political articles. I would really love it if there was a magazine that was solely about makeup, but I have yet to find it.
It used to be magazine but then the makeup nowadays look very blah and overly airbrushed :-/
But of course, the occasionaly celebrities and editorials as well.
Now I turn to beauty bloggers, youtuber gurus and specktra members for inspiration
