Essential Makeup Brushes From e.l.f. Cosmetics

By Sheila Arkee

Hello, my name is Sheila and I am a Professional Makeup Interventionist. With a lifetime of experience and obsession with the beauty industry, I am here for you all in every way related to makeup, and I will stop at no lengths to bring you information that will educate, inspire, and empower you!

Most recently I provided my expertise to a dear friend who has zero makeup brushes. Zero! This simply cannot be – good, well made-brushes truly make a difference with the application of your makeup. The best news is that great brushes are no longer expensive and prohibitive, and the ones made from synthetic hair are just as great and even better than those from natural animal hair.

To those who are just starting a kit or maybe just need help figuring out what to buy, I always recommend e.l.f. Cosmeticcs, which all range from $1 to $3 and are sold online and in Target st ores. While the $1 brushes aren’t half bad, they are not quite as great as the $3 “Studio” line of Taklon brushes, whic are truly flawless. Here are a few of my favorites.

Essential Defining Eye Brush – $1

Not the best, but at just $1, it can’t be beat!

Studio “C” Brush – $3

Perfect for applying eye makeup to the lids and blending it out, feels like it should be $30 instead.

Studio Foundation Brush – $3

This is so great for buffing out liquid foundation and also powder, and at $3, you’ll want multiples!

Do you have any brush favorites from e.l.f. Cosmetics?

I love the Studio Foundation brush! The Studio Blush brush and Studio Stippling brush are both great as well.

The Studio Foundation Brush is seriously amazing – I’m glad you agree! :)

The Eye Defining brush literally revolutionized how I do my eye shadow. It is the perfect crease brush for me, something about the density and softness of the bristles deposits color perfectly for my eye shape. I think I have 8 of these and counting. I love the Blending Eye Brush as well, it has a perfect sized dome shape and like the name suggests I use it to blend out hard lines. Even with all my MAC brushes, I reach for the E.L.F eye brushes time and again.
