When any of the Painted Ladies holler over to tell me about a new great beauty product, I listen, and so that’s what found me on a mad hunt for e.l.f.’s $3 Mineral Eyeshadow Primer. Recommended by Monika, it must be that great because it is impossible to find at any of my usual e.l.f. haunts. I’ll most likely order it online with some other e.l.f. products, but in the meanwhile I wanted to test the $1 e.l.f. Essentials Eyelid Primer, which has received some really positive reviews in the beauty blogosphere.
The texture of this primer is really lightweight and hydrating, which is good for lids like mine that are in dire need of moisture!
To get a good sense of how this primer works, I used it side-by-side with my ultimate eyeshadow primer of the moment, which is Prestige Primed & Ready. This eye had e.l.f.’s primer.
And this eye had Prestige’s primer. One thing that is apparent from the get go is that the shadow on the e.l.f. eye just isn’t as vibrant as the Prestige eye. Eyeshadow applied, I went upon my day which included a workout at the gym and child wrangling. The usual.
The proof is in the pudding, so here’s what happened at the end of my day, about 9 hours later. Sad to say, the e.l.f. primer just did n ot live up to my busy schedule!
You can find e.l.f. products at select Target stores and online.
