Well, lookie what I found when visiting the most perfect Walgreens ever, which just has to be located an hour away from home. It’s the Disney Villains Maleficent Cast A Spell Beauty Book for Fall 2015.
Actually , there’s more to the collection than just the Maleficent Beauty Book, in fact, there’s a whole collection of makeup bags, nail colors, Beauty Books, makeup brushes, and individual makeup pieces with Disney Villains Maleficent, Ursula, and Snow White’s Evil Queen available in select Walgreens right now.
Produced by Disney exclusively for Walgreens, I had a hard time deciding which products to bring home. I have a couple of larger purchases I want to make, like the Urban Decay Vice 4 eyeshadow palette and a couple of Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, so I’ve put myself on a beauty budget.
Although I really wanted everything, I knew I had to keep things under control! I ended up with the Disney Villains Maleficent Cast A Spell Beauty Book, which is priced at $9.99.
Disney has been doing it right with these makeup collections, and I’ve been fairly impressed with the quality of products from the Snow White, Belle and Ariel sets. While previous Disney-themed makeup launches were under the e.l.f. Cosmetics label, I’ve noticed that the more recent collections are under the Disney brand with the same look and feel as the e.l.f. products.
The Beauty Books definitely offer value and for $9.99 you not only get nine eyeshadows, but an eyeshadow brush, a liquid liner, a lipstick and an eyeshadow primer.
Are these the best quality makeup products I’ve ever used. No. Absolutely not. Are they the worst quality makeup products I’ve ever uses? No. Absolutely not. They’re somewhere on the lower end of the middle of the road, and you get what you pay for.
The eyeshadows are pretty, but do need a lot of manipulation and blending to get them to show up as vividly as I want them to. I find myself tapping the eyeshadow on my eyelids with the pads of my ring finger to get maximum color payoff.
The quality of the brush, liquid liner, lipstick and eyeshadow primer are actually pretty decent, and I’m actually more impressed than I anticipated with quality the liquid liner and primer.
This would be a good set if you’re going to a Halloween party and want to create something fun without going through the whole costume shebang. Fun smoky eyes are a guarantee!
My Final Thoughts: The packaging on the Disney Villains Maleficent Cast A Spell Beauty Book is indeed adorable and collectible, but beware you’re pretty much getting what you pay for in terms of product quality.
