Scars. We all have them, some visible areas than need some special help to be covered up. For those who have had cystic acne, medical scars, or deep wrinkles, using makeup alone just won’t cut it. That’s where Dermaflage comes to the rescue.
Dermaflage is a topical perfecting filler that was developed by former Hollywood special effects makeup artist Matt Singer. It’s a way to instantly make icepick, rolling, and boxcar scars look filled for up to 36 hours using silicone and is available in a wide variety of skin tone colors. To match your skin tone, Dermaflage offers a Color Tone Chart online.
I’ll admit to initially feeling overwhelmed by Dermaflage – the components look like they could be part of a doctor’s kit. However, after patiently sitting down and following the directions, I found Dermaflage to not only be extremely easy to use, but genius!
Although I’m not exactly sure how I got this scar, I’ve had a pock mark on my left cheekbone since I was 12. It’s the perfect scar to test out Dermaflage, and I was extremely impressed by how easy it was to use and how well it worked.
There are three simple steps to using Dermaflage.
First, brush the primer over the areas you’ll be working on.
Second, use the syringe to apply Dermaflage directly to your skin. The kit comes with extra tips which mixes the product immediately.
If you prefer to mix the colors, you can do that as well in the provided case.
Use smooth strokes and blend the edges well with the pads of your fingers.
Third, texture your skin and cure the product by pressing the silicone pad over the area for one minute. Dermaflage is fully set after five minutes.
And you’re done!
You don’t even need to use makeup on top to cover the final results. It’s amazing how well Dermaflage works and how nicely it matches my skin tone.
My Final Thoughts: Dermaflage uses silicone to mimic skin and successfully cover up recessed scars. While there are many components to this kit, it’s easy to use and as with everything, practice makes perfect. This is a great product and something that will be life changing for those looking to improve the appearance of scars without surgery.
Price: The starter kit is $50 and contains a 2-3 month supply. There is a 100
