I don’t know about you, but I go through phases when it comes to my beauty product obsessions. For a few months, certain products will take over my collection, getting far more air time than anything else. Here’s what I’ve been loving lately, mostly new products, but one old-time favorite that has finally seen the light of day after being neglected for several years!
This serum is something special! A big time favorite among celebs and their makeup artist, I’m positive this was holding up many a face at last night’s Oscar ceremonies.
As I’ve mentioned before, Winter temps do a number on my skin. Although I’m normal-to-oily, the rain and wind tend to dry out my skin and my normal moisturizing routine – sunscreen and that’s it – doesn’t do it for me, but adding a heavier moisturizer leaves me looking a little dewier than I’d prefer. This serum does the trick and then some.
Although I’d had the product for a while, I just recently uncovered it and decided to give it a whirl. Amazing. Just enough moisture to keep my dry face from falling apart. I use a little bit before my sunscreen, and my skin is happy. If you’re looking for a little extra moisture, I really like this product.
I’ve tried many a MAC concealer in my life. How could this one be any different? Potatoes, po-tah-toes? Having heard multiple raves about Pro Longwear, I am please to report it lives up to the hype. Emollient, doesn’t settle in the burgeoning fine lines under my eyes, and stays in place. It’s gained my seal of approval! The color I use – NW25 – looks awfully dark in the container, but it matched my undereye area perfectly.
Wow. Stila, you did me proud!
This blush, which is deceivingly bright in the pan, transforms to the most gorgeous pink flush on the skin and adapts to your specific skin tone. The blush also manages to lasts a long time on the skin, and that is always a huge plus for me - certain blush brands (MAC, I’m looking at you) disappear on my skin in a flash! For $20, the price is very right on this product.
This scent used to be my THING. It takes me back to my early 20′s in the early 2000′s when I worked in San Francisco and used to traipsy around the shopping districts in Union Square on my lunches. A junior makeup addict, I used to positively love visiting the counters at Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, and a then 2-story Sephora. Oh, those were the DAYS!
I happened across this oil at a Kiehl’s counter, and to my delight it was reasonably priced. This scent has given me more compliments than any other I’ve worn – no wonder it was originally called a Love potion!
Rumbling around in some neglected boxes recently, I happened upon a very old bottle of Musk Oil that has preserved remarkably well. A dab behind the ears and my inner elbows, and voila! Memories abound. To be honest, I was shocked that it has aged so well! They don’t even sell it in this container anymore!
What are you current must-have beauty items?
