Cosmetic Confessions: Bar Soap or Body Wash?

By Sheila Arkee

Although lately I’ve been using my son’s baby wash out of sheer convenience, I received this lovely bar of soap from Burt’s Bees and it reminded me how much I adore using a good bar of french-milled soap. I’m not talking about the kind of soap you buy and find disappearing after just a handful of washes, I mean a generous slab that you’ll have in your shower for at least a month or two, and that makes you feel pretty fancy every time you use it.

This bar of Honey & Shea from Burt’s Bees is just that type of soap, and I am in love with it – baby wash be gone!

So, what about you? Are you a body wash kind of person, or do you prefer to use a bar of soap?

We’re a divided household. I love my body wash on a mesh pouf, and hubby is hooked on handmade soaps (Biggs & Featherbelle are a fave)

I believe every girl should have a bar of fancy french soap in her shower. Luckily, there is a boutique here in town that sells L’epi de Provence soaps.

I use a lot of cold processed soaps, either bought at our local Co-op or from one of the many indie soap sellers out there. Sometimes I use body wash, though. As long as it smells good and gets me clean, it feels luxurious to me. :)

I used to hate most soaps because they were drying, but I did find a couple that aren’t, so now I use soap for everyday. When I want to exfoliate I do use a body wash :)

We’re bar people… my current favorite is any bar from Rocky Top Soap Shop… Affordable, lasts about a month, smells great, and moisturizes. Can’t ask for a better soap.

I’m a body wash person. However I did pick up a bar soap at Lush yesterday and it’s great!
